Today was rather eventful. It was alumni day at my high school, Stuyvesant. My high school was insanely large: there were about 3500 people in my school and about 850 in my grade alone. It was imposible to know anything deeper than rumours about every single student. Today, I saw this kid that I never really had a chance to talk to…he was on speech and debate with me and in one of my classes, but as I was on speech and he was on debate, there was very little opportunity for us to say more than a few words in passing in the corridors…Anyway, today, we immediately linked arms, caught up, and wondered the building together, sharing memories. Of course it wasn’t as deep as that, but it’s nice to know that there is a certain ability for people who come out of a similar experience and setting to share memories that intesected more than they thought it did at the time.

During alumni day I saw a lot of people I haven’t seen in a while, including my friends David, Dima, Sam, Amanda, Vanessa, Keith, Victor, Will, and Sonia. I shared a hug and small talk with each of them, respectively. I also saw a load of my old teachers, and was even invited back by my old art teacher (who couldn’t remember my name but could remember my paintings) to lecture her classes on my chosen fields of art conservation and art history (going to a math/science technical school with hundreds of other asians who wanted to be doctors, lawyers, and political scientists made me and my interest for arts a black sheep).

After alumni day, Jessi, Victor, and I followed Eugene (the kid I saw there) onto the N and B trains to go up to Rockefeller Center to see the tree. After admiring the tree for all of two minutes, we then went to meet up with Susan and her friend Sam in the Nintendo Store. It was cool, but after traversing up and down my ten story building, I was too tired and sore to fully appreciate them and their lack of chairs. So instead of standing around in indecision with those guys, I called Max, who was in the city, and we headed back to Flushing to get me a vanilla latte from Starbucks, a gravy bowl from KFC, and a hot chocolate sundae from McDonalds. Then we went to his plac eto eat and watch Dead Man On Campus, which was hilariously funny, but slightly staticy.

On our way to his place we discussed interested topics, such as dysfunctional college relationships, the commercialization of Christmas and Hannukah, and the hypocracy of Christianity. To be discussed later.

Vacation Day #6

I can’t believe I’ve made it so far into vacation. Save for a few days, it’s been so…boring and uneventful. On Tuesday I hung out with Jin and Freedy. We window shopped and went to Korean BBQ and ate mocha cream cake. Wednesday, I went to Main to drink bubble tea with Robin, who I haven’t seen in about two years. Today, was also rather eventful.

Today I went to the doctor’s office for a routine annual physical. The physical went terribly, no matter what way I looked at it. First, I discovered I’d gained ten pounds since last year. What the hell? Freshman fifteen is supposed to happen…I dunno…FRESHMAN YEAR…so why did I gain sophomore year? I guess that I was so worried that last year I watched what I ate and this year I didn’t. It was disappointing. It didn’t get much better after that. What was a routine blood work turned out to be much more complicated than I expected. After twenty minutes of nausea and trying to find a vein in my arms, the medical assistant decided that it would be a very good idea to start looking in my wrists and hands. After poking my right wrist and realizing that there was no vein, she proceeded to try to find a different vein for another five minutes. Eventually the doctor came in and shoved a needle in my left hand. OW. I FELT EVERY SINGLE NANOMETER OF THAT NEEDLE BEING PUSHED INTO MY HAND VEIN. OH MY GOD IT HURT SO MUCH. and let’s just say, if the cap locks didn’t lead you to believe that was the worst part, it did get worse. I’m going to spare the gory details and just say that women were totally not meant to pee in cups and I have never been more embarrassed in my entire life. After the doctor’s appointment, I went to Max’s house. Went to eat with his family at
Boulder‘s Steakhouse and then went to Target. I was extremely pleasantly surprised to discover that Remington Steele is now being released on DVDs. When did that happen? I remember wishing that they would do that last year. Remington Steele was truly an amazing and career-making series for Pierce Brosnan. I remember watching it and thinking that he should be a 007. That eventually happened. However, due to a sub par lead, he’s been disregarded as a sub par Bond. UGH.Anyway, when we got back to his place, we played Scrabble and watched Grandma’s Boy, which is possibly one of the best movies I’ve seen all month. The end score for Scrabble was my win, 331-304. It was a surprisingly good game and a very satisfying one. On a different note, I am now completely addicted to House, Scrubs, and possibly Bones. Due to lack of late-night social life, I’ve also been sitting around to watch the late night favorites: The Simpsons, That 70s Show, Seinfeld, and Fraiser.

That having been said, I really have a hankering for ice cream and chocolate mousse.

Hello world!
